Do the water levels fluctuate much? IE can you plant something and rain water naturally flood it somewhat?

No pumping is not a option at this time. But I think I have a plan in mind come spring that just might give me that option.

do you have enough land around the pond to build a wetland you could plant then flood using water from the pond?
The food stamp program, part of the Department of Agriculture, is pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of food stamps ever.

Meanwhile, the Park Service, also part of the Department of Agriculture, asks us to "please do not feed the animals" because the animals may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves.

Of possible build a levee across a shallow part with a stop gate in it to control water level in said part. When this is done you will have a controlled area that you can plant whatever crop u see fit then flood from the pond to desired depth. It is an undertaking to do but should have quite the reward.
